He is a passionate Buddhist (he was ordained into the Western Buddhist Order in 1999 - Suryacitta is his Buddhist name), but his work mostly centres on teaching secular, therapeutic Mindfulness, including courses in MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) and MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy).

About The Course

This 4 day course gently takes participants through an in-depth exploration of Mindfulness.

Beginning with the basic principles and core practices, we will gradually explore Mindfulness in a step-by-step way - moving forward slowly into a profound understanding of the deep wisdom of Mindfulness and how it should be correctly practised.

The sessions of teaching are fun, relaxed and informal - they all include periods of guided meditation, some time for group discussion, and periods of question and answer. All participants receive a course handbook.

Each session is built around a different theme:

Jewel in the Ice - what Mindfulness is and how to do it

• The Feeling Body
• Living in the present
• Calming the Chattering Mind
• The ABC of Mindfulness & "Letting Go"
• Dancing with Dragons - working with difficult emotions
• Compassion Meditation
• Bringing Mindfulness to life, and what next

Each day begins at 10am and will end at approximately 3.30pm.

The course content is based on the MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) pathway developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, but includes additional material drawn from the work of Professor Mark Williams and his team here in the UK.

This course is accredited by the CPD Standards Office.
