Nottingham Mindfulness Group

As well as our regular Thursday evening open meetings at Cafe Sobar on Friar Lane (full details Here) NMG also runs two weekly meditation practice groups which take place at a beautiful health and therapy venue in the heart of the city centre. (These practice groups suit those who would like to join a small, friendly group that provides a supportive environment in which people can develop their Mindfulness practice. Admission to the practice groups for 5 consecutive weekly sessions is £28 [£5.60 per session] if you're waged or £15 [£3.75 per session] if you're a concession or unwaged.) The Group also runs occasional workshops and courses on Mindfulness and related topics, including a regular workshop that provides a simple introduction to the key principles and core practices of Mindfulness - this workshop is usually held once a month on a Saturday afternoon, 1pm to 5.30pm, at the Tiger Boe Centre on Clarendon Street, Nottingham NG1. (Check for up-coming dates. The price for the workshop is £35 if you're waged or £20 if you're a concession or unwaged.)

Offers a drop-in Mindfulness meditation session that is freely available to everyone at lunchtime each Tuesday and Friday (1.05pm to 1.55pm) and also in the evening on Tuesdays (7.30 to 8.30). No charge, but donations are invited. Offered as spiritual practice and presented from a Buddhist point-of-view.

Offers an Insight Meditation session on most Tuesday evenings in academic term time (5pm to 6.30pm) at the Bahia Yoga Centre on Stoney Street, Nottingham NG1. No fixed charge but a £5 donation is invited. (Insight Meditation is closely related to Mindfulness.) It is suggested that you make contact with the meditation leader, Jake Dartington, through the Bahia Yoga Centre before attending. Offered as spiritual practice and presented from a Buddhist point-of-view.

Offers various workshops & courses taught by Lydia Weston, usually held at the Bay Therapy Centre in West Bridgford although other venues (including Earth Child in Bingham) are occasionally used. Associated with the Midlands Centre for Mindfulness & Compassion, which is run out of Coventry University, Mindfulness CIC is based in Leicester and provides various courses lead by published Mindfulness author Suryacitta (Malcom Smith, aka “the Happy Buddha”). Offers full 8 week courses (£195 or £145 for concessions) plus intensive courses held over four days (£225 or £165 for concessions). All are taught as a therapeutic technique based on MBSR and MBCT. Mindfulness teacher training is also available.

Courses, classes and weekend retreats teaching meditation in the Zen Buddhist tradition and Mindfulness (drawing both on both classical Buddhism and modern, secular, therapeutic Mindfulness). Lead by David Slater, who is formally trained in the Rinzai tradition of Zen Buddhism.
