Sobar is a pleasant, contemporary cafe-bar-restaurant in the heart of the Nottingham city centre. It's alcohol free. It's very centrally located, just a two minute walk along Friar Lane from the Old Market Square (which is the hub of the Nottingham city centre, for those who aren't familiar with the city).
Sobar is close to bus and tram stops, and it is a short walk from the rail station. There is convenient parking nearby. (For parking details see below.)
The best local parking option is probably that found on Castle Road, off Castle Boulevard - the parking available here is on-street and it's metered. It's only a two minute walk away from our venue and there are normally plenty of spaces.
There are several car parks in the Nottingham city centre, although these can be pricey. For a map showing the car parks in the city centre area Click Here
We meet each week - usually on a Thursday evening - to learn about Mindfulness and to explore Mindfulness techniques, particularly different methods of Mindful meditation.
These weekly meetings contain a mix of different elements, all of which are designed to deepen our understanding and experience of Mindfulness in a gentle, uncomplicated and easy-to-understand way.
We meet in-person on the first Thursday of the month (at Cafe Sobar in the heart of the Nottingham city centre) and our other regular, weekly meetings happen online via Zoom.
Nottingham Mindfulness Group is a local group for any-one interested in Mindfulness, either as a form of spiritual practice or as a practical technique for living a better, calmer, more focussed and more productive life.
We hold regular, weekly meetings which offer (in a friendly, relaxed and informal atmosphere) the opportunity to learn about Mindfulness, to try-out some Mindfulness techniques and methods of Mindfulness meditation, plus the chance to meet and get to know other people who are interested in Mindfulness, or in meditation in general.
Our weekly meetings include:
All are welcome and membership is free
Our meetings are very friendly, casual and "open" - they provide an opportunity to encounter Mindfulness in an easy and straightforward way.
We meet every week (except the two weeks containing Christmas Day and New Year's Day, when we take a break). Our regular, weekly meetings take place each Thursday evening from 7pm through to approximately 9pm. We meet in-person once-a-month (at Cafe Sobar just off the Old Market Square in the Nottingham city centre, close to easy parking and full public transport links) with our other regular weekly meetings all happening online via Zoom.
There is a small admission charge to help cover room hire and other costs - £6 for waged and £3.50 for unwaged/concessions. Refreshments are available.
The Nottingham Mindfulness Group uses Mindfulness techniques drawn from many different, respected sources and it is aligned to no one school,
tradition or branch of Mindfulness practice, however a key inspiration and reference point for our activities is the teaching and work of
Thích Nhất Hạnh and the Plumb Village Mindfulness Community.
