“Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment. We also gain immediate access to our own powerful inner resources for insight, transformation, and healing"
― Jon Kabat-Zinn
Restoring a healthy relationship between body and mind is one of the central (but often overlooked) aspects of Mindfulness. Learning to listen to our bodies, and to truly experience the physicality of life through them, is a foundational practice of Mindfulness - as renowned Zen Master and famous Mindfulness teacher Thich Nhat Hanh is fond of saying, we must "learn to inhabit our bodies".
During this afternoon, Pete will help us to re-connect with our bodies in a deeply Mindful way...and he'll also explore with us the profound, two-way relationship that exists between how we are feeling and our body and physical posture. (Did you know that you can radically effect your current emotional state by simply changing the way you are holding your body, or just by shifting your posture?)
Pete has extensive professional experience in holistic health and personal wellbeing - he runs Authentic Health based in Nottingham - and he is a qualified yoga teacher and Shiatsu practitioner as well as a popular Mindfulness teacher.
Expect this Workshop to include some movement and light physical stretching/exercise (which is very gentle and suitable for all, whatever your age or health limitations).
