This course is a series of 8 friendly, weekly meetings that are an opportunity for a group of up to 15 people to come together and support each other in working through Life With Full Attention, a formal, structured 8 week program that explores Mindfulness in an intimate and in-depth way.
The course draws together key elements of the renowned MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) and MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) programs – elements which it presents in fresh and original ways – and it combines these with some aspects of traditional Mindfulness (as taught in Buddhist retreat centres) to provide a practical and very down-to-earth training in Mindfulness, a training that is solely focussed on making the principles and practices of Mindfulness a regular and deeply rewarding part of everyday life.
This program of study, meditation and practical exercises has been created by leading figures within the Triratna Buddhist Community (a major and respected Buddhist denomination that was previously known as the Western Buddhist Order). However, the program is written with secular Mindfulness users in mind and it is largely free of religious or unduly spiritual terminology and concepts.
The weekly meetings will be held on Tuesday evenings at 6.15pm, and they will last approximately 2½ hours. They are designed to be friendly, welcoming, informal and supportive. In addition to attending these weekly meetings, participants in the program should expect to undertake approximately 40-50 minutes of home practice (consisting of daily meditation practice plus other occasional short exercises and reflections) each day over the whole period of the course.
Places are strictly limited – to secure your place please click on the button below and pay your £25 deposit (see Costs, below). For further details about the course itself, see opposite (or see further down the screen if you're viewing on a phone or tablet).

This Mindfulness program consists of weekly meetings and daily periods of home practice.
The weekly meetings provide a chance for participants to explore the coming week's course work (and meditation exercises) together – and to also discuss, share and reflect on the experiences they've had over the previous week while they have actually been putting the course work and meditations into practice in their daily lives.
The themes covered over the 8 week period are:
During the course, the practicalities of creating a good and highly effective personal meditation practice are explored, and topics such as cultivating Compassion (and Self-Compassion) in daily life, and learning to live Mindfully amidst the busyness and pressure of our hectic, everyday existence, serve as key aspects of the teaching which are repeatedly returned back to.
The meetings are hosted by Shaun (a highly experienced group facilitator and trained Mindfulness teacher who runs our other weekly Mindfulness meetings) along with Jamie (who is our regular co-host, and who is a Counsellor in training). All the course materials (including the Life With Full Attention Workbook and CDs of all the meditations used during the course) will be provided, with everyone receiving their own, personal copies.

Important - Mindfulness and other forms of meditation are safe and appropriate practices for the vast majority of people and they are proven to offer a wide range of benefits, including the lowering of stress and deep levels of relaxation. However current research indicates that all forms of meditation (including Mindfulness) may be unwise for people with bipolar vulnerability or those who are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD), unless it is conducted under clinical supervision. If you are currently receiving treatment for any form of mental health issue (or have received such treatment in the recent past, or have reason to believe that you might need such treatment), you should consult your doctor or health care professional before engaging with Mindfulness or any form of meditation.
